Who Will Feed the Elderly During War?

Yad Ezra v'Shulamit

(Yad Ezra v'Shulamit)

We cannot let them go hungry.

Shula, an 84-year-old widow in Jerusalem, sits alone in her small apartment. She can barely walk. With sirens warning of missile attacks, she’s been told not to leave her home unless she’s within seconds of a bomb shelter.

But how is she supposed to get food?

Shula is not unique.

Since the attacks from Iran began, life in Israel has come to a near standstill. Streets are empty. Schools are closed. Stores are shuttered. Public transportation is limited—and the home aides many elderly rely on simply can’t reach them. Thousands of seniors like Shula are left frightened, hungry and completely alone.

That’s where Yad Ezra V’Shulamit steps in.

As Israel’s largest food distribution organization, we knew we had to act fast. This week, we began delivering hot, nutritious meals—chicken, rice and vegetables—directly to the homes of 1,000 elderly residents in Jerusalem. Each meal is hand-delivered with love and care, because for many, it may be the only food they’ll eat all day.

But this is just the beginning.

There are thousands more who need our help—right now. Elderly people trapped in their homes. Holocaust survivors too afraid to leave their beds. Disabled individuals with no one to check on them.

We cannot let them go hungry.

Please help us reach them.
