Jewish actor Josh Gad, a grandson of Holocaust survivors, discussed his experience with antisemitism on the ‘Being Jewish with Jonah Platt’ podcast following a sympathetic message he posted to the families of victims from the October 7th massacre.
He revealed that his post, which he stressed was purely a message of sympathy and not political, led to death threats and extreme antisemitic backlash.
Gad expressed feeling unsafe in his own skin, emphasizing that the Holocaust’s ‘Never Again’ message must be understood as a call to action in the present.
“I did the thing you’re not supposed to do, which was be Jewish…and I was met with death threats.”
