Israeli undercover Border Police officers operating in Judea and Samaria, guided by the Shin Bet, arrested two terrorists who were allegedly planning an imminent attack in the Shechem (Nablus) area, Israeli security forces announced Thursday morning.
According to the statement, the undercover forces entered the area disguised as locals and surrounded the building where the suspects were hiding. Security personnel then conducted negotiations with the terrorists, who ultimately surrendered to the forces and were taken into custody without an exchange of fire.
The two suspects were transferred to the Shin Bet for further interrogation.
Israeli police and the IDF said in a joint statement that undercover Border Police units in Judea and Samaria, together with all security forces, “will continue operating to thwart terrorism and arrest terrorists anywhere and at any time in order to protect the citizens of Israel and security forces.”
The announcement came as the IDF revealed additional counterterror operations carried out over the past two days by the elite Duvdevan unit across Judea and Samaria.
During operations directed by the Shin Bet, Duvdevan fighters arrested five terrorists in three separate raids. In Jenin, forces detained a suspect accused of planning an imminent terror attack.
In the village of Tzida in the Ephraim Brigade sector, troops arrested a Hamas-affiliated terrorist allegedly involved in advancing terror activity.
In a separate operation in the Qalandiya and al-Bireh areas within the Binyamin Brigade sector, forces arrested three additional suspects, including an armed terrorist accused of incitement and another involved in assembling explosive devices.
All the suspects were transferred to Israeli security forces for further investigation.
Security forces said they will continue operating aggressively throughout the region against anyone involved in planning or carrying out attacks against Israeli civilians or military personnel.
