“We will conclude our stay in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their electric generating plants, oil wells and Kharg Island,” Trump warned.

President Donald Trump said the United States is in “serious discussions” with what he described as new and more reasonable leadership in Iran to end military operations, but warned that major strikes could follow if negotiations fail and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The United States of America is in serious discussions with a new and more reasonable regime to end our military operations in Iran. Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately open for business, we will conclude our stay in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their electric generating plants, oil wells and Kharg Island.”
Trump added that the United States has so far deliberately avoided striking certain key infrastructure sites in Iran but warned that could change if negotiations fail or if shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is not restored. He said such strikes would be carried out in retaliation for American casualties and Iran’s actions over decades.
The statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the region and growing concerns about the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes, through which a significant portion of global oil exports passes. Any disruption to shipping in the strait could have major economic consequences and further escalate the conflict.
Earlier this week, The Washington Post reported that the U.S. Defense Department has drafted plans for a possible ground campaign in Iran that could last for weeks, though Trump has not yet decided whether to authorize such an escalation.
According to the report, the plans under consideration do not involve a full-scale invasion but instead focus on limited operations such as Special Operations raids and conventional infantry missions.
Among the scenarios reportedly being discussed are the possible seizure of Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export hub, and raids on coastal military sites near the Strait of Hormuz aimed at destroying weapons that threaten commercial and military shipping.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Sunday that the United States is publicly discussing negotiations while secretly preparing for a ground invasion of Iran.
“They talk about negotiations publicly, but secretly they are planning a ground attack,” he wrote in a message marking 30 days since the start of the war, adding that Iranian forces are prepared for such a scenario and that missile launches against Israel would continue.
The statements from both sides highlight the growing tension between ongoing diplomatic efforts and military preparations as the conflict enters a potentially decisive phase.
