President Donald Trump sharply rejected Iran’s latest response to the U.S. ceasefire proposal on Sunday, declaring it “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE” amid reports that Tehran refused to meet key American demands on its nuclear program.

“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The reaction came after reports from The Wall Street Journal and regional outlets indicated Iran’s proposal focused heavily on ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while delaying binding commitments on enriched uranium and the future of its nuclear program.

According to the Wall Street Journal report, Tehran proposed discussing nuclear issues separately within 30 days rather than immediately accepting U.S. conditions.

Iran reportedly offered a temporary freeze on uranium enrichment for a shorter period than the long-term restrictions demanded by Washington, while proposing to dilute part of its enriched uranium stockpile and transfer the rest to a third country under specific conditions.

Lebanese outlet Al Mayadeen reported that Iran is demanding full sanctions relief, the release of frozen Iranian funds, and an immediate end to the war as part of any agreement with the United States. The report added that Tehran considers a ceasefire in Lebanon a “red line.”

Iranian media pushed back strongly against Trump’s response. A source cited by Tasnim News Agency said Trump’s reaction “does not matter” in shaping Iran’s position and argued that dissatisfaction from the U.S. president is often viewed in Tehran as a sign the proposal is favorable to Iran.

“Whenever Trump shows discontent with the plan, it is usually a sign that the plan is better,” the source said, adding that “no one in Iran is working on designing a plan to please the American president.”

Earlier Sunday, Trump also accused Iran of decades of deception and delay in negotiations with the United States, while sharply criticizing former President Barack Obama’s Iran policy in a lengthy Truth Social post.

“Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years,” Trump wrote, later adding: “They will be laughing no longer!”

The latest exchange follows Trump’s warning last week that if Iran does not ultimately agree to U.S. terms, the “bombing starts” and would be at a “higher level and intensity than it was before.”
