Škoda Auto said it has signed a new cybersecurity partnership with Israeli firm Upstream as the automaker expands its connected-vehicle operations and faces increasing regulatory and digital security demands, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Under the agreement, Škoda will use Upstream’s vehicle-focused extended detection and response platform to monitor cyber risks across its connected cars, backend systems, applications and supply chain infrastructure.

The system is designed to provide real-time visibility into potential threats without requiring additional software or hardware to be installed in vehicles.

Automakers have been grappling with a sharp rise in cyber exposure as vehicles rely more heavily on software, cloud connectivity and digital services.

Attack surfaces now extend beyond the vehicle itself to include internal IT systems, customer-facing apps, charging infrastructure and third-party suppliers.

Škoda said the partnership is intended to streamline how those risks are tracked and managed across its organization.

Upstream’s platform aggregates and analyzes data from information technology systems, operational technology environments, IoT devices and connected vehicles.

Using automated detection techniques, it identifies irregular activity and emerging threats, allowing security teams to respond more quickly while reducing the manual workload tied to compliance documentation and internal reporting.

Upstream’s technology is already used by several major global manufacturers, including Renault, Volvo, Hyundai, BMW, Nissan and Mitsubishi, as carmakers move toward continuous cybersecurity monitoring rather than periodic assessments.

Both companies said early implementation has already reduced coordination bottlenecks by allowing teams to review findings, exchange context and document decisions within a single environment. The partnership is expected to evolve as Škoda’s digital services and connected-vehicle capabilities continue to grow.
