Netanyahu Torches Tucker Carlson After Claims Israel Controls US Politics

In a Tuesday interview with Glenn Greenwald on the System Update podcast this week, Carlson accused Netanyahu of “running around” and bragging about the “control” he has over U.S. leaders.

The gloves came off between Benjamin Netanyahu and Tucker Carlson this week, with Israel’s prime minister blasting the conservative commentator as historically ignorant and aligned with forces that “want to destroy Western civilization.”

Speaking to filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza on Wednesday, Netanyahu didn’t hold back when asked about Carlson’s recent questioning of Jewish historical ties to Israel.

“Of course, there’s no question about it. The Jews spread from this land to various parts of Europe, to the Middle East, and elsewhere, but we never, never forgot this land. We said, ‘Next year in Jerusalem, next year in Jerusalem.’ My great-grandfather came here in the 19th century. Most of the Palestinians who are alive today came after him,” Netanyahu replied.

“That’s what our history has been: on the one hand, regaining our ancient ancestral homeland, and on the other, developing a state that becomes a juggernaut of technology and development. We’re Silicon Valley in the Middle East, a democratic society in the face of enormous attacks from countries that want to annihilate us every day.”

Once a conservative stalwart, Carlson has quickly descended to the fringes of American politics with conspiracy theories and malicious rhetoric against the Jewish state. In a Tuesday interview with Glenn Greenwald on the System Update podcast this week, Carlson accused Netanyahu of “running around” and bragging about the “control” he has over U.S. leaders.

“Bibi’s running around — this is a fact, I’m not guessing about this because I talked to people he said it to — running around the Middle East, his region, in his own country, and telling people point-blank, just stating it: ‘I control the United States. I control Donald Trump,’” Carlson remarked.

“He’s saying that — and again I’m not guessing at all, that’s a fact. I dare them to say that’s not true because it is true. They know it’s true. I’m an American. How do you think it makes me feel even if I didn’t vote for Trump, which I did, I campaigned for Trump, but even if I was Joe Biden? I’m an American, you can’t treat — It’s too humiliating. I can’t handle that, and I shouldn’t have to put up with that.”

For Netanyahu, this was apparently the final straw.

“Who is Tucker Carlson defending?” Netanyahu fired back. “These are people who chant ‘Death to America.’ They’re after you. They want to destroy everything that America stands for. So if Tucker Carlson is asking you that, then he has no idea — not just of Jewish history, but of history.”
