A stabbing attack took place Tuesday morning at the entrance to the community of Ateret in the Binyamin region of Judea and Samaria, where a terrorist stabbed two Israelis before being shot by IDF soldiers already on site. Medical teams reported that both victims sustained light injuries and were treated at the scene by Magen David Adom.

According to local security officials, a much larger attack was prevented thanks to the alertness of a civilian who noticed a suspicious individual carrying a bag near Ateret shortly after 7:15 a.m. The Binyamin emergency center immediately alerted IDF forces, while Ateret’s security room monitored the suspect using its cameras. When soldiers arrived, the terrorist drew a knife and attempted to stab them. The troops responded with live fire and killed him.

The IDF stated, “Following a report of a suspicious person near the community of Ateret, IDF forces arrived at the scene. While the individual was being checked, he began stabbing the soldiers, who responded with live fire and killed him.”

The attack near Ateret came just a few hours after a car-ramming attack Monday night near Kiryat Arba, where an IDF soldier was lightly injured when a Palestinian terrorist drove his vehicle into her at the Yehuda Junction on Route 60. Security forces launched a widespread overnight manhunt that continued into early Tuesday.

The terrorist was located in Hebron inside the same vehicle used in the attack. When troops approached to arrest him, he attempted to flee and endangered the force. The soldiers opened fire and killed him. Palestinian reports identified him as 17-year-old Muhannad Zarir.

With two attacks within 12 hours, Israeli security forces remain deployed across Judea and Samaria with heightened readiness. The swift response of IDF troops, local security teams and vigilant civilians prevented further casualties and demonstrated once again that Israel will act decisively to protect its people from terror.
