Israeli security forces, including the IDF, Shin Bet, and Border Police, launched a large-scale counterterrorism operation overnight in northern Samaria, the military announced Wednesday morning.
The operation involves three brigades—the Commando Brigade, the Samaria Brigade, and the Menashe Brigade—and is focused on a cluster of five villages where intelligence indicated terrorist groups have been attempting to rebuild infrastructure and prepare imminent attacks.
The IDF described the activity as essential to disrupting growing terrorist activity in the area and said forces are prepared to expand the operation if necessary. “We will not allow terrorist infrastructure to take root in the region and are acting proactively to prevent it,” the military said.
The operation began overnight as Israeli forces encircled several villages. By the early hours of the morning, troops had already entered some of them, with plans to move through all five as the operation continues.
The launch of the campaign follows two earlier raids this week in Nablus and Jenin, where IDF and Shin Bet forces located and killed the terrorists responsible for deadly attacks in May and August 2024 and arrested several accomplices, closing months-long manhunts.
