Israeli Tech Firm Unveils AI Tool to Stop Scams Before the Transaction Starts

An Israeli cybersecurity company says it can now stop most scams in progress, even before the would-be victim has completed the transaction.

Israel-based BioCatch, known for fighting financial crime by tracking patterns in human behavior, has launched Scams360™, its latest AI-driven tool designed to detect and block “authorized push payment” (APP) fraud in real time.

APP scams trick victims into willingly transferring money to criminals, often through emotional or high-pressure tactics such as romance, investment, or impersonation schemes.

Instead of focusing solely on transaction data, Scams360 looks at how a customer interacts online.

It analyzes thousands of subtle cues—hesitation before typing, unusual mouse movements, typing speed changes, long pauses, or even the presence of a phone call during a banking session—to spot signs of manipulation.

BioCatch says it now monitors over 15 billion online sessions each month, protecting more than 500 million people worldwide.

“Already, we’re seeing a 50% improvement in detecting scams that don’t involve impersonation,” said Ayelet Eliezer, BioCatch’s Chief Product Officer in a press release.

“Our alert rate is also among the best in the industry, which means fewer false alarms and lower costs for banks—while stopping more fraud in real time.”

The timing is urgent. The Global Anti-Scam Alliance estimates scammers steal over $1 trillion from consumers every year—a figure expected to rise as criminals use generative AI to refine and scale their schemes.

BioCatch has already helped one U.S. bank prevent $100 million in scam losses in 2024 alone.

Now, with Scams360, the company hopes to give financial institutions worldwide a stronger defense against the increasingly sophisticated tactics of online fraudsters.
