Israeli Military Intelligence chief Shlomi Binder traveled to Washington this week for a series of high-level meetings with senior officials at the Pentagon, the CIA, and the White House, as security coordination between Israel and the United States intensifies against the backdrop of rising tensions with Iran.
According to Axios, Binder briefed U.S. counterparts on specific intelligence requested by the Trump administration as Donald Trump considers possible military options.
The meetings, held over several days, were described by sources familiar with the visit as part of a broader effort to synchronize intelligence assessments and policy planning between the two allies.
According to Israeli media outlet Ynet, U.S. counterparts were impressed by Israel’s planning and execution capabilities, as well as the speed and quality of the intelligence presented. The report said Binder’s visit was pivotal in strengthening intelligence coordination and sharing operational lessons from Operation “Rising Lion.”
Ynet added that a central focus of the discussions was air superiority over Iran. During the operation, Israel announced it had achieved air dominance over parts of western Iran, including the Tehran area, within 48 hours.
Israeli officials described the achievement as exceptional by international standards, noting that even major powers have struggled to secure sustained air superiority in other recent conflicts.
At the same time, security officials described an accelerating process of learning and adaptation among Israel, Iran, and the United States. Each side, they said, is closely analyzing the other’s moves, refining capabilities, and updating operational concepts.
As Iran tensions continue to mount, the talks underscored the growing importance of tight U.S.–Israel alignment at both the intelligence and operational levels, with intelligence sharing and coordinated planning becoming increasingly central as the regional picture grows more volatile and decisions in Washington and Jerusalem carry far-reaching consequences.
