U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that Iran is rebuilding its military capabilities far faster than previously expected, according to multiple sources familiar with the findings.

Four sources told CNN that American intelligence now believes Iran’s military reconstitution is advancing at a pace that has exceeded earlier Western estimates, which projected a more prolonged recovery following recent U.S. and Israeli strikes.

“The Iranians have exceeded all timelines the intelligence community had for reconstitution,” a U.S. official said.

According to the report, Iran has already resumed parts of its drone production during the six-week ceasefire that began in early April, signaling a rapid return to operational capacity.

Despite significant damage inflicted during the strikes, Iran still retains key military capabilities, including ballistic missiles, drone strike systems, and air defense assets. This means its rebuilding efforts are not starting from zero, allowing for a faster recovery of its overall military strength.

The findings challenge earlier assumptions that Iran’s military infrastructure would remain degraded for an extended period, raising concerns among U.S. and allied officials about the durability of recent gains.

The report comes at a critical moment, as the ceasefire appears increasingly fragile and conflicting signals persist.

While Iran has submitted a response to the latest U.S. proposal, raising the possibility of a diplomatic breakthrough, the rapid pace of its military recovery is increasing the likelihood that U.S.-Israeli strikes could resume in the near term if talks collapse.
