Iran has launched over 370 ballistic missiles at Israel since the launch of Israel’s Operation Rising Lion last Friday, the Israeli government announced Monday morning.
More than 300 missiles were shot down by Israel’s air defense network, which has been bolstered by American THAAD and Patriot missile systems, with 30 missile impacts reported.
The missile attacks have left 24 people dead and 592 people injured, the government said, including 10 in serious condition, 36 in moderate condition, and 546 in light condition.
In addition to the missile attacks, Iran has launched hundreds of suicide drone aircraft, most of which were shot down before entering Israeli airspace.
One aircraft that crossed into Israeli airspace via Jordan was shot down en route to the coastal town of Caesarea, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence is located.
Iran’s health ministry claimed Monday morning that 224 people have been killed in the Israeli air campaign, with 1,257 others injured.
Israel has in the past estimated that Iran had roughly 3,000 missiles in its arsenal prior to the outbreak of the current war, with only 1,500 to 2,000 of those capable of reaching Israel.
On Monday, however, National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi – a long-time confidant of Prime Minister Netanyahu – told Galei Tzahal radio that despite the over 370 missile launches and loss of additional missiles to Israeli strikes, Iran likely has “thousands of ballistic missiles” remaining in its arsenal.
“The Iranians had thousands of ballistic missiles [prior to the war] and they still have thousands [of missiles] remaining.”
In a separate interview Monday with Kan Reshet Bet, Hanegbi denied that Israel is planning to topple or depose Iran’s leadership, while emphasizing that this could change rapidly.
“As of right now, we have no plans to harm their political leadership. But the extent of ‘right now’ is only about 60 seconds. We didn’t plan to hit Khamenei.”
