More than $500 million has been raised for Israeli civilians since the outbreak of the war on October 7 through the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, according to its president and global CEO, Yael Eckstein.

Eckstein told Ynet that she moved quickly that morning to organize a large-scale fundraising drive after realizing the scope of the attack.

After returning home from synagogue, she told her husband: “I’m in reserve duty.” By early afternoon, she had already gathered her team to begin planning emergency assistance for civilians caught in the fighting.

When staff asked how the effort would be financed, she said she told them: “There is no budget. Whatever we can do, we will do to the end.”

Since then, Eckstein said the organization has directed more than 1 billion shekels toward relief and recovery programs across Israel.

The assistance has gone to evacuees from the northern and southern regions, wounded soldiers, former hostages and their families, bereaved families, and civilians whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

The group has also supported immigrants facing economic hardship and funded community programs aimed at helping residents recover after prolonged evacuations.

Eckstein told Ynet the assistance included distributing basic necessities to families whose homes were damaged and supplying equipment to improve shelter conditions. The Fellowship has also installed portable bomb shelters in coordination with the Home Front Command and helped provide beds for shelters in cooperation with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.

In addition to emergency relief, the organization has backed longer-term projects, including resilience centers in communities near the Gaza border, assistance for hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, and support for farmers whose fields were damaged during the war.
