Israel has opened an intensive war seminar for senior officers from 18 foreign militaries, turning its hard-earned experience from two years of fighting Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Iran into a live classroom. The weeklong program is led by the IDF Ground Forces and centers on what the army calls “the war across all arenas.”
Generals and commanders from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, India, Greece, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Estonia, Japan, Morocco, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia have arrived in Israel for the forum, the IDF said. Some of these governments have publicly backed International Criminal Court moves against Israel, yet their militaries are now on the ground, taking notes from the same IDF they’re used to hearing condemned in diplomatic forums.
According to the army, the goal is to deepen operational cooperation, compare combat doctrines and share professional lessons from Israel’s multi-front campaign. Participants are expected to sit through high-level briefings, war-room style debriefs and field tours that bring them face-to-face with the aftermath of Hamas’s October 7 invasion and the battles that followed in the Gaza Envelope communities. This is where you can naturally drop in photos of visiting officers touring destroyed homes or sitting in joint briefing rooms.
Israeli media reports that the delegations will also meet soldiers and civilians who fought to defend their communities on October 7, grounding the seminar in personal testimony rather than PowerPoint alone. That mix of lived experience and operational analysis is a big part of what militaries are coming for: how Israel mobilized under fire, plugged intelligence gaps, adapted command structures and stitched together air, ground and cyber power in real time. A short embedded clip of officers listening to survivors or frontline commanders would fit well here.
The context behind the seminar is Israel’s grinding war against Iran’s proxy network and, at times, Iran itself. After the Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel triggered all-out war, fighting spread to four main fronts: Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen and direct exchanges with Tehran. Israel ultimately crippled much of Hezbollah’s senior command in Lebanon, forced a truce with Beirut and reached a ceasefire with Hamas mediated by Washington, Ankara, Cairo and Doha, even as sporadic rocket fire and attacks have continued.
For Israel, hosting this forum is not only about helping friendly militaries prepare for their own next wars. It is also a subtle answer to the narrative that paints the IDF as a rogue force. When officers from NATO states, Asian democracies and an Arab country like Morocco travel to Israel to study its conduct and methods, it underlines where serious professionals believe real battlefield expertise lies. It also strengthens the kind of interoperability and political alignment that matter if Iran’s network tries to ignite another regional confrontation.
In a world where Israel is often put on trial in international courts and campus debates, this seminar is the opposite dynamic: the people who actually have to defend their citizens against missiles, terror tunnels and mass casualty attacks are showing up, in uniform, to hear how the IDF did it. That is the real audience Israel cares about—and the message to Tehran and its proxies is that, far from isolated, Jerusalem is quietly shaping how the world’s leading armies think about the next war.
