Itongadol\/AJN.- El presidente de Israel, Reuven Rivlin, dijo al General Mart\u00edn Dempsey, presidente de Joint Chiefs Staff (Jefes Conjuntos) hoy que aunque naci\u00f3 en Jerusalem antes del establecimiento del Estado Jud\u00edo, \u00e9l era israel\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Sus comentarios se hicieron en referencia a la decisi\u00f3n de la Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos esta semana en la que ciudadanos americanos nacidos en Jerusalem no pueden tener la palabra \u201cIsrael\u201d en sus pasaportes. Adem\u00e1s dej\u00f3 en claro el punto al darle la bienvenida a Martin Dempsey a Jerusalem, \u201cla capital del Estado de Israel\u201d, pero agreg\u00f3 que Israel respeta las normas jur\u00eddicas.<\/p>\n

Rivlin tambi\u00e9n discuti\u00f3 sobre las presiones que hab\u00edan sido puestas sobre Israel por sus aliados a trav\u00e9s de los a\u00f1os, incluyendo el incentivo de Estados Unidos de que el Estado Jud\u00edo entrara a las negociaciones de paz con Siria y devolviera los Altos de Gol\u00e1n. Sin embargo, expres\u00f3 que por suerte \u00e9stos todav\u00eda son parte de Israel, dada la situaci\u00f3n en Siria y el peligro al que se enfrenta la comunidad drusa que vive en la frontera con este pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Este lunes la Corte Suprema de Israel evoc\u00f3 una ley del Congreso que autorizaba poner la palabra \u201cIsrael\u201d en pasaportes de americanos nacidos en Jerusalem. La decisi\u00f3n de seis contra tres fue una victoria para la administraci\u00f3n del presidente estadounidense, Barack Obama, quien dijo que la ley hab\u00eda usurpado ilegalmente el poder del presidente de establecer una pol\u00edtica extranjera y, si era aplicada, minimizar\u00eda el reclamo del gobierno de Estados Unidos de ser un jugador neutral en Medio Oriente.<\/p>\n

Los jueces liberales Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor y Elena Kagan, junto con el juez asociado Anthony Kennedy y el juez conservador Clarence Thomas obtuvieron la mayor\u00eda en contra de los jueces John Roberts, Antonin Scalia y Samuel Alito.<\/p>\n
