El primo de Ana Frank, Buddy Elias, su \u00faltimo pariente cercano y el custodio de su enorme legado, muri\u00f3 la semana pasada a los 89 a\u00f1os en Basilea, Suiza. Elias era primo del primer hijo de Frank y ten\u00eda cuatro a\u00f1os m\u00e1s que la adolescente de Amsterdam. Frank y su familia sol\u00edan visitar a sus primos en Suiza; su \u00faltima visita fue en 1938 antes de que la familia se escondiera en Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

Elias cuid\u00f3 con orgullo el legado de Ana Frank, actu\u00f3 desde 1996 como presidente de la Anne Frank Fonds, la organizaci\u00f3n fundada por Otto Frank. \u00c9l supervis\u00f3 estrictamente el uso del nombre y la imagen de Ana, asegur\u00e1ndose de que nadie se beneficie de la historia de la diarista\u00a0adolescente.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tambi\u00e9n revel\u00f3 el material de archivo en su propia casa en Suiza, que ayud\u00f3 a llenar detalles acerca de la historia de Frank. Seg\u00fan el New York Times \u00abel Sr. Elias termin\u00f3 a\u00f1adiendo su propio patrimonio a la herencia literaria de los Frank despu\u00e9s de que su esposa, Gerti, mientras limpiaba el \u00e1tico de una casa familiar en 2001, encontr\u00f3 un tesoro de cartas, postales y fotograf\u00edas – unos 6.000 art\u00edculos en total – enviado a los Elias por los Frank, incluyendo la joven Ana.
