\"\"El Congreso norteamericano aprob\u00f3 por unanimidad un proyecto de ley que convierte a Israel en \u201csocio estrat\u00e9gico principal\u201d de Estados Unidos, profundizando las relaciones bilaterales; que han mostrado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os signos de tensi\u00f3n entre los gobiernos del presidente estadounidense, Barack Obama, y el del primer ministro, Biniam\u00edn Netanyahu.<\/p>\n

En un voto cantado, la C\u00e1mara de Representantes aprob\u00f3 el Acta de Sociedad Estrat\u00e9gica Estados Unidos-Israel 2014, que expande la cooperaci\u00f3n en materia de defensa, seguridad interna, ciberespacio, tecnolog\u00eda para energ\u00edas alternativas, investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo, comercio, agricultura, manejo del agua, y acad\u00e9mica.<\/p>\n

La medida refleja \u201cel sentir del Congreso de que Israel es un socio estrat\u00e9gico principal de Estados Unidos\u201d y declara el \u201capoyo inquebrantable apoyo\u201d a Israel como Estado jud\u00edo.<\/p>\n

El proyecto de ley, que hab\u00eda sido aprobado en el Senado por unanimidad en septiembre pasado, ha sido elevado ahora al presidente Obama para que estampe su firma.<\/p>\n

La legislaci\u00f3n expandir\u00e1\u00a0el volumen de armamento estadounidense almacenado en Israel de 200 millones a 1.800 millones de d\u00f3lares, de tal manera que el Pent\u00e1gono podr\u00e1 estar mejor preparado para ejecutar sus operaciones en el vol\u00e1til Oriente Medio. Tambi\u00e9n es crucial para Israel disponer de esas municiones en caso de urgencia, tal como sucedi\u00f3 durante la pasada guerra contra el grupo terrorista isl\u00e1mico Ham\u00e1s en la Franja de Gaza.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Recientemente el Congreso aument\u00f3 los fondos para las bater\u00edas antimisiles C\u00fapula de Hierro de 235 millones a 351 millones de d\u00f3lares, para el a\u00f1o fiscal 2015.<\/p>\n

\u201cIsrael es una luz brillante en un regi\u00f3n muy pero muy oscura\u201d, apunt\u00f3 el representante dem\u00f3crata Eliot Engel poco antes de la votaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

El proyecto de ley tambi\u00e9n requiere que la Administraci\u00f3n Obama coloque a Israel en una categor\u00eda exclusiva para las exportaciones libres de licencia de ciertos productos y tecnolog\u00edas estadounidenses, y adem\u00e1s incluye al Estado jud\u00edo en el programa de excepci\u00f3n de visas para EE.UU.<\/p>\n
