Mientras caminaba cerca de la \u201cantigua cantera\u201d, que se halla debajo de Khirbet Shalala (la granja de Mishmar HaCarmel) en el Monte Carmelo, de repente se top\u00f3 con un objeto intrigante. \u201cSiento curiosidad por los f\u00f3siles y las rocas y me gusta coleccionarlos\u201d, afirma el joven Whiteson. \u201cMientras hac\u00eda senderismo me fij\u00e9 en un peque\u00f1o elemento verde y lo levant\u00e9. Estaba corro\u00eddo, y al principio, pens\u00e9 que s\u00f3lo se trataba de un tornillo oxidado. Pens\u00e9 en calentarlo, pero afortunadamente, en ese momento, comprend\u00ed que era un anillo. En casa, vi que hab\u00eda una imagen en \u00e9l. A primera vista, pens\u00e9 que era un guerrero\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La familia contact\u00f3 a Nir Distelfeld, inspector de la Unidad de Prevenci\u00f3n de Robos de la Autoridad de Antig\u00fcedades de Israel, quien transfiri\u00f3 el anillo al Departamento de Tesoros Nacionales. Fue analizado e investigado por la Autoridad de Antig\u00fcedades de Israel, con la asistencia del Prof. Shua Amorai-Stark, un expert en anillos antiguos y amuletos del Colegio Acad\u00e9mico Kaye. Yair y su familia fueron invitados a visitar el nuevo Campus Nacional Jay y Jeanie Schottenstein para la Arqueolog\u00eda de Israel, y recibieron una distinci\u00f3n por ser buenos ciudadanos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn este hermoso anillo, \u00edntegramente conservado, aparece la imagen de una figura desnuda con casco. En una mano, sostiene un escudo y en la otra, una lanza\u201d, explican Distenfeld y el Dr. Eitan Klein, de la Unidad de Prevenci\u00f3n de Robos de Antig\u00fcedades de la Autoridad de Antig\u00fcedades de Israel. \u201cLa identificaci\u00f3n de Yair de la figura como un guerrero, es muy cercana a la realidad. La figura es, aparentemente, la diosa Minerva de la mitolog\u00eda romana, tambi\u00e9n conocida como Atenea en la mitolog\u00eda griega. Esta diosa, que era muy popular durante el per\u00edodo romano en la Tierra de Israel, era considerada, entre otras cosas, como la diosa de la guerra y la estrategia militar, y tambi\u00e9n la diosa de la sabidur\u00eda\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl peque\u00f1o anillo, cuyo metal parece ser bronce, probablemente perteneci\u00f3 a una mujer o a una ni\u00f1a durante el per\u00edodo romano tard\u00edo (siglo II-III de la era com\u00fan). El sitio del hallazgo estaba debajo de Khirbet Shalala, ubicado en la cima de una colina donde hay restos de granja del per\u00edodo romano, y cerca de una antigua cantera de rocas. Hay all\u00ed dos cuevas funerarias en el borde de la cantera. El anillo puede haber pertenecido a una mujer que viv\u00eda en esta granja. O tal vez, se le podr\u00eda haber ca\u00eddo a un trabajador de la cantera, o puede que fuera una ofrenda funeraria de estas tumbas cercanas. Hay muchas posibilidades\u201d, dicen los investigadores.<\/p>\n<p>Khirbet Shalala, el sitio arqueol\u00f3gico cercano al lugar donde fue hallado el anillo, se ubica en la cima de una colina en el centro de las monta\u00f1as del Carmelo. Limita por tres lados con Nahal Oren, y muy cerca se encuentra Ein Alon, una fuente de agua perenne. El sitio fue explorado y documentado en el pasado por los top\u00f3grafos del Fondo de Exploraci\u00f3n de Palestina del siglo XIX, por la famosa arque\u00f3loga israel\u00ed, Prof. Ruth Amiran, y por una expedici\u00f3n de la Universidad Bar Ilan, dirigida por el experto en el Monte Carmelo, Prof. Shimon Dar. \u201cEl anillo conecta ahora con los datos recabados aqu\u00ed en excavaciones y estudios previos, y arroja una luz adicional sobre este lugar\u201d, concluyeron diciendo Distenfeld y el Dr. Klein.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<shortcode  style=\"display:block\" ><div class=\"cta-boxed\"><h2>Do You Love Israel?
