Un nuevo estudio de la Universidad de Tel Aviv ofrece un tratamiento nuevo y \u00fanico para el SIDA que puede convertirse en una vacuna o en un tratamiento \u00fanico para pacientes con VIH.<\/p>\n

El estudio fue dirigido por el Dr. Adi Barzel y el estudiante de doctorado Alessio Nehmad, ambos de la Facultad de Neurobiolog\u00eda, Bioqu\u00edmica y Biof\u00edsica de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Vida George S. Wise y el Centro Dotan de Terapias Avanzadas en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Centro M\u00e9dico Sourasky. (\u00cdchilov).<\/p>\n

Se realiz\u00f3 en colaboraci\u00f3n con investigadores adicionales de Israel y los EE. UU. El estudio fue publicado en la prestigiosa revista Nature.<\/p>\n

Durante las \u00faltimas dos d\u00e9cadas, la vida de muchos pacientes con SIDA ha mejorado como resultado de la administraci\u00f3n de tratamientos que cambian la enfermedad de letal a cr\u00f3nica. Sin embargo, todav\u00eda tenemos un largo camino por recorrer antes de encontrar un tratamiento que proporcione a los pacientes una cura permanente.<\/p>\n

Una forma posible de hacerlo, con una inyecci\u00f3n \u00fanica, se desarroll\u00f3 por primera vez en el laboratorio del Dr. Barzel. La t\u00e9cnica desarrollada en su laboratorio utiliza gl\u00f3bulos blancos tipo B que ser\u00edan modificados gen\u00e9ticamente dentro del cuerpo del paciente para secretar anticuerpos neutralizantes contra el virus del VIH que causa la enfermedad.<\/p>\n

Las c\u00e9lulas B son un tipo de gl\u00f3bulos blancos responsables de generar anticuerpos contra virus, bacterias y m\u00e1s que se forman en la m\u00e9dula \u00f3sea. Cuando maduran, las c\u00e9lulas B pasan al sistema sangu\u00edneo y linf\u00e1tico y de all\u00ed a las diferentes partes del cuerpo.<\/p>\n

El Dr. Barzel explic\u00f3 que \u00abhasta ahora, solo unos pocos cient\u00edficos, y nosotros entre ellos, hab\u00edamos podido dise\u00f1ar c\u00e9lulas B fuera del cuerpo, y en este estudio fuimos los primeros en hacerlo en el cuerpo y hacer que estas c\u00e9lulas generaran anticuerpos deseados\u00bb .<\/p>\n

Actualmente, explican los investigadores, no existe un tratamiento gen\u00e9tico para el SIDA, por lo que las oportunidades de investigaci\u00f3n son enormes.<\/p>\n

\u00abCon base en este estudio, podemos esperar que en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os podamos producir de esta manera un medicamento para el SIDA, para otras enfermedades infecciosas y para ciertos tipos de c\u00e1ncer causados \u200b\u200bpor un virus, como el c\u00e1ncer de cuello uterino, el c\u00e1ncer de cabeza y cuello y m\u00e1s\u00bb, explic\u00f3 Barzel.<\/p>\n
