Herzog\u00a0fue recibido en el palacio del presidente turco\u00a0Recep Tayyip Erdogan\u00a0tocando\u00a0Hatikva\u00a0y una salva de 21 ca\u00f1onazos.<\/p>\n

Los presidentes inspeccionaron una larga guardia de honor de soldados con uniformes de gala azul cielo con bayonetas de pie a lo largo de una alfombra a juego, adem\u00e1s de una fila de soldados con espadas en uniformes y armaduras hist\u00f3ricas, esperando fuera del colosal\u00a0Palacio Presidencial de Erdogan, que tiene m\u00e1s de 1,000 habitaciones.<\/p>\n

En la pista del\u00a0Aeropuerto Ben-Guri\u00f3n\u00a0antes de su partida,\u00a0Herzog\u00a0dijo que \u201clas relaciones con\u00a0Turqu\u00eda\u00a0son importantes para\u00a0Israel\u00a0y toda la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Herzog\u00a0dijo que si bien \u00e9l y\u00a0Erdogan\u00a0\u201cno estar\u00e1n de acuerdo en todo\u201d y \u201ctuvieron momentos dif\u00edciles en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os\u201d, \u201cintentar\u00e1n reparar las relaciones y construirlas a trav\u00e9s de acciones y respeto mutuo entre los pa\u00edses\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMi visi\u00f3n es que\u00a0jud\u00edos,\u00a0musulmanes\u00a0y\u00a0cristianos\u00a0vivan en paz en nuestra regi\u00f3n, de una manera que traiga prosperidad a la regi\u00f3n\u201d, afirm\u00f3\u00a0Herzog. \u201cEspero que despu\u00e9s de mi visita, iniciemos el proceso de un discurso diplom\u00e1tico serio y profundo para generar v\u00ednculos avanzados y resultados positivos\u201d.<\/p>\n

La visita oficial de estado se produce por invitaci\u00f3n de\u00a0Erdogan\u00a0y es la primera de un l\u00edder israel\u00ed desde 2008 y de un presidente desde 2007.\u00a0Herzog\u00a0tambi\u00e9n planea viajar a\u00a0Estambul\u00a0para reunirse con la\u00a0comunidad jud\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Erdogan\u00a0llam\u00f3 a\u00a0Herzog\u00a0para felicitarlo por su elecci\u00f3n como presidente el a\u00f1o pasado, lo que condujo a la reanudaci\u00f3n del di\u00e1logo entre sus pa\u00edses despu\u00e9s de a\u00f1os de desconexi\u00f3n en los niveles superiores. Han hablado varias veces desde entonces.<\/p>\n
