Los dos oficiales israel\u00edes muertos por el \u201cfuego amigo\u201d a ra\u00edz de un error de identificaci\u00f3n fueron identificados como el mayor Ofek Aharon, de 28 a\u00f1os, y el mayor Itamar Elharar, de 26 a\u00f1os.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Los dos oficiales de la unidad de comando \u201cEgoz\u201d de las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI), hab\u00edan salido tras un ejercicio de entrenamiento a patrullar los alrededores de la base conocida como \u201cNabi Musa\u201d, al norte del Mar Muerto, en el Valle del Jord\u00e1n, en la noche del mi\u00e9rcoles.<\/p>\n

Alrededor de las 23:00 horas, los comandantes de la compa\u00f1\u00eda de las fuerzas especiales detectaron una figura sospechosa, que en realidad era otro oficial israel\u00ed, y emprendieron el procedimiento regular de arresto que finaliza con disparos al aire de advertencia. Un tercer soldado crey\u00f3 que se trataba de un atentado y que le estaban disparando, por lo que abri\u00f3 fuego contra el origen de los disparos dando muerte a Aharon y Elharar en la escena.<\/p>\n

El error fatal tuvo lugar la noche despu\u00e9s de que un desconocido irrumpiera en la zona de la base y robara equipo militar, incluyendo poderosos largavistas de infrarrojo para visi\u00f3n nocturna, revel\u00f3 una fuente castrense.<\/p>\n

Las bases militares han sido objeto de numerosos robos, por lo que el Estado Mayor cambi\u00f3 en noviembre pasado las regulaciones para permitir a los soldados abrir fuego para detener a los ladrones.<\/p>\n

El jefe del Estado Mayor, teniente general Aviv Kochavi arrib\u00f3 a la base en el Valle del Jord\u00e1n esta ma\u00f1ana para reunirse con los comandantes de la unidad para dar comienzo a la investigaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de expresar sus condolencias a los familiares de los oficiales fallecidos, Kochavi dijo que se debe tambi\u00e9n tener compasi\u00f3n por el oficial que los mat\u00f3 por error.<\/p>\n

\u201cDebemos abrazar al oficial, cuidarlo, mostrar que estamos protegi\u00e9ndolo. Por supuesto, que lo hizo en forma accidental, lo que result\u00f3 en las muertes de sus amigos\u201d, apunt\u00f3 Kochavi.<\/p>\n

El ministro de Defensa, Benny Gantz, expres\u00f3 sus condolencias a los familiares de los oficiales ca\u00eddos y prometi\u00f3 una investigaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n

\u201cLas FDI est\u00e1n llevando a cabo una amplia investigaci\u00f3n, y haremos todo lo posible para asegurar que una tragedia como esta no se repita\u201d, puntualiz\u00f3 Gantz.<\/p>\n

En la misma l\u00ednea, el primer ministro, Naftal\u00ed Bennett, envi\u00f3 sus condolencias a los familiares de los oficiales fallecidos y puso de relieve que los combatientes \u201cdedicaron los mejores a\u00f1os de sus vidas para la seguridad de Israel y la defensa de la patria\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cTodo el pueblo de Israel est\u00e1 de duelo\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 el jefe del Ejecutivo.<\/p>\n

El mayor Ofek Aharon, era oriundo de la localidad de Gan Yavne (cerca de la ciudad portuaria de Ashdod) y el mayor Itamar Elharar proven\u00eda del moshav (aldea agr\u00edcola cooperativa) religioso de Bnei Reem, en el centro del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n
