Luego de que los legisladores estadounidenses quitar\u00e1n del presupuesto 2022 la partida de mil millones de d\u00f3lares para el sistema de defensa Iron Dome, se confirm\u00f3 que se present\u00f3 una nueva propuesta ajena al presupuesto para enviar ese dinero.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

La diputada Rosa de Lauro, presidenta de la poderosa Comisi\u00f3n de Asignaciones, confirm\u00f3 la idea. \u00abEl compromiso de Estados Unidos con la seguridad de nuestro amigo y aliado Israel es f\u00e9rreo. Reponer los interceptores utilizados para proteger a Israel de los ataques es nuestra responsabilidad legal y moral\u00ab, asegur\u00f3 la representante de Connecticut.<\/p>\n

\u00abSi bien estos fondos normalmente se incluir\u00edan en un paquete de gastos de fin de a\u00f1o, estamos avanzando en esta legislaci\u00f3n ahora para demostrar el compromiso bipartidista del Congreso con la seguridad de Israel como parte de un Medio Oriente con paz duradera\u00ab, agreg\u00f3.<\/p>\n

La situaci\u00f3n se complic\u00f3 originalmente cuando sectores del ala izquierda del Partido Dem\u00f3crata avisaron que no votar\u00edan por el presupuesto si inclu\u00eda el financiamiento al Iron Dome. Esto pon\u00eda en riesgo tambi\u00e9n la capacidad de endeudamiento de Estados Unidos, en medio de la recuperaci\u00f3n de la pandemia de COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Frente a esto, un grupo de dem\u00f3cratas pro-Israel presionaron al l\u00edder del bloque, Steny Hoyer, para no permitir que se suspenda el financiamiento. La votaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1 por separado y se espera apoyo del Partido Republicano.<\/p>\n

Hoyer hab\u00eda hablado con el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Yair Lapid, y le hab\u00eda asegurado que solamente se trataba de una demora.<\/p>\n
