La esperanza de vida aument\u00f3 en un promedio del 30 por ciento en ratones machos y hembras dise\u00f1ados para tener altos niveles de una prote\u00edna llamada SIRT6, inform\u00f3 un equipo de cient\u00edficos internacionales en la revista <\/span>Nature Communications<\/span><\/em> .<\/span><\/p>\n

Los ratones tambi\u00e9n pudieron superar mejor las enfermedades relacionadas con la edad, como el c\u00e1ncer y los trastornos sangu\u00edneos, y se mantuvieron muy fuertes a medida que envejec\u00edan en lugar de volverse fr\u00e1giles.<\/span><\/p>\n

El estudio fue dirigido por el profesor Haim Cohen, director del Centro Sagol Healthy Human Longevity<\/em> de la Universidad Bar-Ilan en Israel. La investigaci\u00f3n de Cohen se ha centrado durante mucho tiempo en c\u00f3mo SIRT6 participa en la regulaci\u00f3n de procesos biol\u00f3gicos como el envejecimiento, la obesidad y la resistencia a la insulina.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mientras que los animales m\u00e1s viejos generalmente experimentan una disminuci\u00f3n de la energ\u00eda, los cuerpos de los ratones con SIRT6 adicional descomponen las grasas y el \u00e1cido l\u00e1ctico para crear el az\u00facar que se utiliza como energ\u00eda en sus m\u00fasculos y cerebro.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abEste descubrimiento, combinado con nuestros hallazgos anteriores, muestra que SIRT6 controla la tasa de envejecimiento saludable\u00bb, dijo Cohen.<\/span><\/p>\n
