Israel celebr\u00f3 un hito especial el pasado domingo, ya que la organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro Matnat Chaim, que fomenta y facilita las donaciones de ri\u00f1\u00f3n en vida, est\u00e1 a punto de romper un r\u00e9cord mundial al marcar su trasplante n\u00famero 1000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Desde que se fund\u00f3 Matnat Chaim, en hebreo \u00abGift of Life\u00bb, en 2019, la cantidad de donaciones de ri\u00f1\u00f3n en Israel se ha cuadriplicado.<\/span><\/p>\n

Los datos de la organizaci\u00f3n revelan que alrededor de dos tercios de los donantes son hombres, un tercio son mujeres y el 40 por ciento de todos los donantes son maestros o educadores. Se estima que el trabajo de la organizaci\u00f3n le ha ahorrado al estado unos 4 mil millones de shekels ($ 1,2 mil millones) al disminuir la necesidad de tratamientos, hospitalizaci\u00f3n y medicamentos para pacientes con enfermedad renal.<\/span><\/p>\n

La pandemia de COVID-19 provoc\u00f3 un aumento en el n\u00famero de donaciones. Algunas semanas, dijo la organizaci\u00f3n, supervis\u00f3 de cinco a nueve trasplantes de ri\u00f1\u00f3n por semana. Una cantidad especialmente grande de donaciones ocurri\u00f3 cuando el fundador de Matnat Chaim, el rabino Yeshayahu Heber, falleci\u00f3 despu\u00e9s de haber contra\u00eddo el coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n

El receptor de ri\u00f1\u00f3n Kobi Oshrat le dijo a <\/span>Israel Hayom<\/span><\/em> que desde que recibi\u00f3 el trasplante, \u201cla vida ha sido maravillosa. El trasplante fue m\u00e1s exitoso de lo esperado. Mi condici\u00f3n f\u00edsica mejor\u00f3 enormemente. Volv\u00ed a ser un hombre joven … practico deporte y en general me encuentro muy bien\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

El donante de Oshrat fue Yoav Matityahu. Oshrat dice: \u201cNos hemos convertido en una familia. \u00c9l y su esposa son personas maravillosas. Es innegable que quienes deciden donar un ri\u00f1\u00f3n est\u00e1n salvando una vida. Y todo esto est\u00e1 sucediendo aqu\u00ed, en Israel. Es asombroso\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

El ministro de Cultura, Yehiel Tropper, quien don\u00f3 un ri\u00f1\u00f3n m\u00e1s hace un a\u00f1o, le dijo a <\/span>Israel Hayom<\/span><\/em> que no hab\u00eda estado nervioso ni asustado por el procedimiento.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHabl\u00e9 con los m\u00e9dicos de antemano y me explicaron el proceso. Entend\u00ed que el riesgo era m\u00ednimo. Es cierto que se trata de una cirug\u00eda, pero la comprensi\u00f3n de que es muy probable que el ri\u00f1\u00f3n salve una vida triunfa sobre todo\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

En cuanto al r\u00e9cord de esta semana que rompi\u00f3 Matnat Jaim, Tropper dijo: \u201cEs uno de los mayores puntos de orgullo de Israel. Israel ocupa el primer lugar en el mundo en donaciones de \u00f3rganos de donantes vivos. Somos un pueblo maravilloso y extraordinario\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

Al hablar de la persona que recibi\u00f3 su ri\u00f1\u00f3n, Tropper dijo: \u201cEstoy en contacto con Yair. Fue operado el d\u00eda de su 60 cumplea\u00f1os. Hablamos todos los viernes.
