\u201cHace un aproximadamente a\u00f1o nos invit\u00f3, a mi esposa y a m\u00ed, a Om\u00e1n a una visita que fue emocionante e importante, en la que ofreci\u00f3 su ayuda para promover la paz y la estabilidad\u201d, apunt\u00f3 Netanyahu en un mensaje de Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u00abFue un gran l\u00edder que trabaj\u00f3 incansablemente para promover la paz y la estabilidad en la regi\u00f3n. Bajo su mandato, Om\u00e1n se convirti\u00f3 en un pa\u00eds importante y progresista\u00bb, agreg\u00f3 Netanyahu.<\/p>\n

El primer ministro transmiti\u00f3 sus mejores deseos a su sucesor, Haitham bi Tariq al Said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFelicito al nuevo sult\u00e1n, Haitham bin Tariq, por su nombramiento y sus declaraciones de que la pol\u00edtica exterior de Om\u00e1n y su trabajo por la paz en la regi\u00f3n continuar\u00e1n\u00bb, destac\u00f3 Netanyahu.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu y su esposa, Sara, llevaron a cabo una visita sorpresa a Mascate en 2018.<\/p>\n

A diferencia de otros pa\u00edses \u00e1rabes, Qabus no conden\u00f3 el tratado de paz firmado entre Egipto e Israel en 1979, y abri\u00f3 una oficina comercial en Tel Aviv, a mediados de la d\u00e9cada de los noventa, que cerr\u00f3 en el a\u00f1o 2000 durante la Intifada palestina.<\/p>\n

Haitham ascendi\u00f3 al trono de Om\u00e1n pocas horas despu\u00e9s de anunciarse el fallecimiento de Qabus que gobern\u00f3 el pa\u00eds \u00e1rabe del Golfo P\u00e9rsico desde 1970 y falleci\u00f3, a los 79 a\u00f1os de edad, de una enfermedad cuyos detalles no fueron dados a conocer.<\/p>\n

El nuevo sult\u00e1n, de 65 a\u00f1os, cuenta con una carrera en el gobierno oman\u00ed desde hace m\u00e1s de 30 a\u00f1os. Se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como ministro de Patrimonio y Cultura desde 2002 hasta la actualidad, y era mano derecha de su extinto primo. Tambi\u00e9n encabez\u00f3 la diplomacia de Om\u00e1n durante ocho a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<\/a>
