Era la octava noche de Januc\u00e1 en el poblado de Kiel en Alemania, donde viv\u00edan unos 500 jud\u00edos.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

El rabino Akiva Posner estaba prendiendo la \u00faltima vela de Januc\u00e1 en su casa, frente a los cuarteles del partido Nazi en la ciudad, minutos antes de la entrada de Shabat. Ah\u00ed, en 1931, estaba la bandera nazi en una fr\u00eda noche de diciembre, cuando la luz de la Januki\u00e1 desafiaba la oscuridad del odio.<\/p>\n

La esposa del rabino Posner, Rajel, corri\u00f3 y tom\u00f3 una foto de la Menor\u00e1 frente al edificio nazi. Luego, escribi\u00f3 en la parte de atr\u00e1s de la foto: \u00abJanuc\u00e1, 5692 (el a\u00f1o jud\u00edo). ‘Muerte a Judea’ dice la bandera, ‘Judea vivir\u00e1 eternamente’, contesta la luminaria\u00bb.<\/p>\n

El rabino Akiva Posner public\u00f3 una carta de protesta en la prensa local expresando su indignaci\u00f3n por unos posters que hab\u00edan aparecido en la ciudad que dec\u00edan \u00abProhibida la entrada a Jud\u00edos\u00bb. Por su protesta, fue citado por el jefe de la sede local del partido nazi y desde ah\u00ed la tensi\u00f3n y la violencia con los jud\u00edos fue en constante aumento.<\/p>\n

La familia Posner abandon\u00f3 Alemania en 1933 y lleg\u00f3 a Israel en 1934. Pero, adem\u00e1s, la familia del rabino fue clave para salvar la vida de cientos de jud\u00edos: antes de irse del pa\u00eds advirtieron a su comunidad sobre las intenciones del r\u00e9gimen nazi y que deb\u00edan abandonar Alemania. Finalmente solo algunos pocos de los 500 jud\u00edos de la ciudad, murieron durante el Holocausto.<\/p>\n

Actualmente la foto y el candelabro original est\u00e1n exhibidos en el Museo del Holocausto de Yad Vashem en Jerusal\u00e9n. Cada a\u00f1o el museo devuelve el candelabro a los descendientes del rabino que siguen us\u00e1ndola para cumplir con el precepto del encendido de las velas de Januc\u00e1.<\/p>\n<\/a>
