Despu\u00e9s de seis a\u00f1os de sequ\u00eda, la Autoridad del Agua de Israel anunci\u00f3 que el Kinneret (Mar de Galilea) aument\u00f3 otros 11 cent\u00edmetros en mayo. Esta es una gran noticia, ya que el mar es la mayor fuente de agua natural de Israel y ha retrocedido significativamente en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recientemente, el nivel de agua de Kinneret estuvo peligrosamente cerca de alcanzar la \u00abl\u00ednea negra\u00bb, que es el punto de demarcaci\u00f3n por debajo del cual no se puede bombear agua sin da\u00f1ar la infraestructura y el suministro de agua. Si el Kinneret hubiera alcanzado la l\u00ednea negra, podr\u00edan haber ocurrido problemas ecol\u00f3gicos irreversibles. Estos habr\u00edan incluido un aumento en la salinidad del agua y el crecimiento excesivo de algas que pueden da\u00f1ar permanentemente la calidad del agua, la flora y la fauna.<\/span><\/p>\n

Si la sequ\u00eda hubiera continuado hasta 2019, la Autoridad del Agua se habr\u00eda visto obligada a imponer l\u00edmites al consumo de agua en el pa\u00eds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Al reconocer la urgente necesidad de compensar la falta de agua dulce, Israel ha construido cinco <\/span>plantas de desalinizaci\u00f3n masivas<\/span><\/a> en la costa mediterr\u00e1nea y est\u00e1 trabajando en otras dos. Estos proporcionan alrededor del 70 por ciento del agua potable del pa\u00eds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Israel recicla casi el 86 por ciento de sus aguas residuales para uso agr\u00edcola.<\/span><\/p>\n
