La ONG humanitaria israel\u00ed IsraAID est\u00e1 enviando un equipo de respuesta de emergencia a Mozambique, tras ser golpeado por el devastador cicl\u00f3n Idai, que se considera el peor desastre de la historia del hemisferio sur, seg\u00fan Naciones Unidas.<\/span><\/p>\n

El cicl\u00f3n, que se extendi\u00f3 por Mozambique, Malawi y Zimbabwe en el sureste de \u00c1frica, destruy\u00f3 todo a su paso, dejando en ruinas casas, cultivos e infraestructura, y temores de que m\u00e1s de 1.000 personas hayan muerto en la tragedia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Se cree que m\u00e1s de 2.6 millones de personas en los tres pa\u00edses se ven afectados por la poderosa tormenta. Beira, la ciudad portuaria de Mozambique, la cuarta m\u00e1s grande del pa\u00eds, recibi\u00f3 un impacto directo del cicl\u00f3n, que lo destruy\u00f3 en un 90 por ciento.<\/span><\/p>\n

IsraAID nace con el fin de distribuir suministros de emergencia, prestar primeros auxilios psicol\u00f3gicos y restablecer el acceso al agua potable a las comunidades afectadas en diversos pa\u00edses. Hoy realizan su actividad en Mozambique. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abMuchas personas se encuentran en situaciones desesperadas, varios miles luchan por sus vidas en este momento, sentados en los techos, en los \u00e1rboles y en otras \u00e1reas elevadas\u00bb, dijo el portavoz de UNICEF, Christophe Boulierac. \u00abEsto incluye familias y obviamente muchos ni\u00f1os\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

En 2018, los equipos de respuesta de emergencia de IsraAID llegaron a 26,300 personas en todo el mundo, proporcion\u00e1ndoles agua potable segura, apoyo psicol\u00f3gico y comunitario y alivio despu\u00e9s de desastres naturales.<\/span><\/p>\n

Los \u00faltimos dos a\u00f1os vieron c\u00f3mo la organizaci\u00f3n respond\u00eda a m\u00faltiples desastres, como los huracanes Florence, Michael y Harvey y los incendios forestales del norte de California en los Estados Unidos.
