Australia parece estar en camino de trasladar su embajada a la capital de Israel.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Se espera que Australia <\/span>reconozca<\/span><\/a> formalmente a Jerusalem como la capital de Israel<\/a>, luego de que el comit\u00e9 de seguridad nacional del pa\u00eds aprobara la medida el martes por la noche, seg\u00fan inform\u00f3 <\/span>The Times of Israel<\/span><\/em> .<\/span><\/p>\n

Se espera que el gobierno australiano anuncie formalmente la decisi\u00f3n, aunque no est\u00e1 claro si el pa\u00eds tiene la intenci\u00f3n de reconocer a la totalidad de Jerusalem como la capital israel\u00ed, o simplemente al oeste de Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mientras tanto, fuentes gubernamentales de alto nivel dijeron <\/span>al diario<\/span>\u00a0The Australian<\/em>que que la reubicaci\u00f3n de la embajada de Tel Aviv a Jerusalem parece haberse retrasado debido al costo proyectado, estimado en 200 millones de dolares. En su lugar, se establecer\u00e1 una oficina consular en Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

El primer ministro de Australia, Scott Morrison, dijo en octubre que estaba \u00ababierto\u00bb a reconocer a Jerusalem como la capital del estado jud\u00edo, y que ser\u00eda \u00absensato\u00bb y \u00abpersuasivo\u00bb reubicar la embajada all\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n

En una conversaci\u00f3n de seguimiento con el primer ministro israel\u00ed, Benjamin Netanyahu, el l\u00edder australiano dijo: \u00abEstamos comprometidos con una soluci\u00f3n de dos estados, pero francamente no ha ido tan bien, no se han logrado muchos avances\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

En una declaraci\u00f3n en las redes sociales el martes, el funcionario palestino de alto rango, Saeb Erekat, critic\u00f3 duramente la decisi\u00f3n de Australia y pidi\u00f3 a los pa\u00edses \u00e1rabes y musulmanes que rompan todas las relaciones diplom\u00e1ticas con el pa\u00eds, si Australia sigue adelante con el anuncio.<\/span><\/p>\n

Otros pa\u00edses, entre ellos la <\/span>Rep\u00fablica Checa<\/span><\/a> y <\/span>Brasil<\/span><\/a>, han anunciado su intenci\u00f3n de trasladar sus embajadas a Jerusalem. El presidente electo de Brasil, Jair Bolsonaro, dijo en noviembre: \u201cComo se dijo anteriormente durante nuestra campa\u00f1a, tenemos la intenci\u00f3n de transferir la Embajada de Brasil de Tel Aviv a Jerusalem. Israel es un estado soberano y deberemos respetarlo debidamente\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

El <\/span>Estados Unidos traslad\u00f3 su embajada<\/span><\/a> de Tel Aviv a Jerusalem el 14 de mayo, seguido por <\/span>Guatemala<\/span><\/a> dos d\u00edas m\u00e1s tarde. Paraguay tambi\u00e9n movi\u00f3 su embajada en mayo pasado antes de devolverla a Tel Aviv en septiembre.<\/span><\/p>\n
