Los intentos de deslegitimar a Israel son una forma de antisemitismo, dijo el mi\u00e9rcoles el secretario general de las Naciones Unidas, Antonio Guterres, en un foro de alto nivel para combatir el odio contra los jud\u00edos que se llev\u00f3 a cabo al margen de la Asamblea General.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

El antisemitismo moderno, dijo el l\u00edder de la ONU, se expres\u00f3 \u201ca s\u00ed mismo en intentos de deslegitimar el derecho de Israel a existir, incluyendo llamados a su destrucci\u00f3n, usando el pretexto de la situaci\u00f3n en el Medio Oriente para apuntar a jud\u00edos y s\u00edmbolos jud\u00edos\u201d.
\n\u201cEl mundo tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 viendo una alarmante proliferaci\u00f3n de grupos de supremac\u00eda neonazi y blanca, y de aquellos que buscan la dominaci\u00f3n religiosa y \u00e9tnica.<\/p>\n

\u201cEsto es un tribalismo atropellado\u201d. No solo son viles sus visiones viles, sino que la corriente principal desafortunadamente, en ocasiones, les est\u00e1 llegando \u201c, dijo Guterres en el evento organizado por la UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Desde que asumi\u00f3 el cargo el a\u00f1o pasado, la directora general de la UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, ha destacado la importancia de combatir el antisemitismo y el evento del mi\u00e9rcoles fue parte de ese esfuerzo.<\/p>\n

El primer ministro Benjamin Netanyahu declin\u00f3 la invitaci\u00f3n de la UNESCO para asistir al evento y afirm\u00f3 que el trato que la organizaci\u00f3n brinda al estado de Israel era equivalente al antisemitismo.<\/p>\n

Un v\u00eddeo del evento, mostr\u00f3 una silla vac\u00eda al lado del letrero que dec\u00eda Israel, mientras ministros de Relaciones Exteriores y embajadores de otros pa\u00edses asistieron y hablaron sobre el tema.<\/p>\n

Pero en el evento de la UNESCO, Guterres dijo que las Naciones Unidas tienen una obligaci\u00f3n especial de luchar contra el antisemitismo porque la organizaci\u00f3n fue creada despu\u00e9s de la Segunda Guerra Mundial para ayudar a prevenir tragedias como el Holocausto.<\/p>\n

\u201cLos or\u00edgenes de las Naciones Unidas est\u00e1n enraizados en la necesidad de aprender las lecciones del Holocausto. Ser fiel a nuestra Carta significa combatir el antisemitismo y el odio con toda nuestra energ\u00eda y voluntad \u201c, dijo Guterres.<\/p>\n

Azoulay dijo que la desinformaci\u00f3n en torno al conflicto israel\u00ed-palestino tambi\u00e9n ha ayudado a fomentar el antisemitismo contempor\u00e1neo.<\/p>\n

Agreg\u00f3 que el antisemitismo \u201csocava los derechos humanos fundamentales en general, se pudre y corrompe a toda la sociedad\u201d. Es una de las fuerzas ideol\u00f3gicas m\u00e1s poderosas y centenarias del extremismo violento \u201c.<\/p>\n

Tal odio no puede ser combatido \u00fanicamente por las instituciones jud\u00edas, dijo Azoulay. \u201cEs crucial que toda la comunidad internacional se movilice. Albert Einstein dijo una vez que es m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil descifrar prejuicios que un \u00e1tomo. La educaci\u00f3n, que est\u00e1 en el coraz\u00f3n del mandato de la UNESCO, es un factor poderoso para romper ese prejuicio \u201c, dijo Azoulay.<\/p>\n

\u201cLos jud\u00edos contin\u00faan siendo atacados solo por su identidad\u201d, dijo. El antisemitismo est\u00e1 \u201cen aumento en todas partes del mundo donde viven comunidades jud\u00edas. Pero tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 presente en pa\u00edses donde no hay jud\u00edos en absoluto \u201c, dijo Guterres.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl antisemitismo ha sobrevivido a lo largo del milenio, pero no deber\u00eda tener cabida en el siglo XXI\u201d, dijo Guterres.<\/p>\n

Los Ministros de Asuntos Exteriores de Australia, Hungr\u00eda y Bulgaria hablaron en el evento al igual que los representantes del Reino Unido, Sprain, M\u00e9xico y Argentina.<\/p>\n

Por otro lado, la Misi\u00f3n de Israel ante la ONU en Nueva York, encabezada por el embajador Danny Danon, estableci\u00f3 un pabell\u00f3n al margen de la ONU sobre el antisemitismo.<\/p>\n

Pidi\u00f3 a los participantes de la AGN emitir declaraciones contra el antisemitismo y posar con carteles de campa\u00f1a que dec\u00edan, \u201c# No2Antisemitismo.<\/p>\n

Entre los que pasaron por all\u00ed se encontraban representantes de Brasil, Bulgaria, Albania, Polonia y Lituania.<\/p>\n

\u201cEsta es una gran oportunidad para que los l\u00edderes del mundo hagan saber a su gente que el antisemitismo no tiene cabida en su pa\u00eds o en el mundo\u201d. Los incidentes en los que vemos profanadas fosas jud\u00edas, la diseminaci\u00f3n de BDS en los campus universitarios y los llamados a la destrucci\u00f3n de Israel demuestran que el antisemitismo puede tomar muchas formas, pero est\u00e1 alimentado por el odio al pueblo jud\u00edo. Nuestra campa\u00f1a es un esfuerzo por utilizar las redes sociales para hacer retroceder a esta intolerancia ancestral \u201c, dijo Danon.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, en 2018 se publicaron 180,000 art\u00edculos antisemitas en internet y redes sociales.<\/p>\n

Agreg\u00f3 que de 1989 a 2017, hubo 11,183 incidentes antisemitas violentos en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n
