El s\u00e1bado 17 de marzo fue fecha hist\u00f3rica para Israel: A las 12 y 7 minutos de la tarde, sin una nube en el cielo, el pa\u00eds estableci\u00f3 un nuevo r\u00e9cord en producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda solar.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n

A esa hora, la energ\u00eda solar produjo el 13,4% de la electricidad total que se consume en el pa\u00eds, seg\u00fan la Israel Electric Corporation (IEC).<\/p>\n

Aunque nuevas tecnolog\u00edas y proyectos solares de gran envergadura han ayudado a que Israel se acerque a cumplir sus objetivos de energ\u00edas renovables, funcionarios de la compa\u00f1\u00eda dijeron que el r\u00e9cord roto ese d\u00eda obedece a una combinaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica: alta producci\u00f3n solar y bajo consumo el\u00e9ctrico general.<\/p>\n

\u201cEse porcentaje tan alto se logr\u00f3 porque era s\u00e1bado y el tiempo era perfecto para la generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable, lo que muestra que s\u00ed es posible\u201d, dijo Oren Hellman, funcionario de la IEC. \u201cEl sol es la mayor fuente de energ\u00eda en Israel y podemos lograr una producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda solar mucho mayor\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Aikhenbaum, director de campa\u00f1a de Greenpeace Israel, una organizaci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica, elogi\u00f3 el nuevo logro.<\/p>\n

\u201cEsto prueba que cuando se quiere y se eliminan los obst\u00e1culos, la revoluci\u00f3n solar cobra fuerza\u201d, dijo a Ynet News, una agencia de noticias israel\u00ed. \u201cLa combinaci\u00f3n de sol e innovaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n dando a conocer a Israel. No est\u00e1 lejos el d\u00eda en el que podamos alcanzar el 100% de nuestro consumo gracias a la energ\u00eda solar, como ocurri\u00f3 en Dinamarca, donde lograron hacerlo con energ\u00eda e\u00f3lica el a\u00f1o pasado\u201d.<\/p>\n

A pesar de la abundancia de horas de sol y de tecnolog\u00edas de energ\u00eda solar, en la actualidad s\u00f3lo el 2,6% de la electricidad del pa\u00eds se genera a partir de fuentes renovables. Gran parte de la energ\u00eda solar producida se exporta y, adem\u00e1s, los descubrimientos de reservas de gas natural han interferido con la adopci\u00f3n de la energ\u00eda solar en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, los nuevos proyectos de energ\u00eda en el Negev y Arava, al sur del pa\u00eds, muestran un aumento en el porcentaje de participaci\u00f3n de las energ\u00edas renovables. Se espera que el proyecto de Ashalim Thermo-Solar, actualmente en construcci\u00f3n en el Negev, genere aproximadamente 300 megavatios de electricidad diariamente a la red nacional de la IEC y contribuya con un 2,5% al objetivo del gobierno de alcanzar un 10 % de energ\u00eda renovable para 2020.<\/p>\n

Se tiene planeado que entre en funcionamiento a mediados del a\u00f1o y que la cantidad de energ\u00eda producida sea suficiente para cubrir las necesidades de aproximadamente el 5% de la poblaci\u00f3n de Israel.<\/p>\n
