Si bien los lazos cercanos entre Israel y Azerbaiy\u00e1n pasaron desapercibidos hasta hace bien poco, la naci\u00f3n de mayor\u00eda chiita parece estar liderando un cambio en el mundo musulm\u00e1n hacia el calentamiento de las relaciones con el estado jud\u00edo.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

El enviado de Azerbaiy\u00e1n en los Estados Unidos, Embajador Elin Suleymanov, habl\u00f3 con <\/span>The Algemeiner<\/span><\/em> al margen de la Conferencia de Pol\u00edtica de AIPAC de este a\u00f1o y explic\u00f3 que los estrechos v\u00ednculos entre Israel y Azerbaiy\u00e1n \u00abno son una sorpresa\u00bb. Suleymanov agreg\u00f3: \u00abYa han escuchado sobre esto. Es conocido. Y eso es bueno. No es una frontera totalmente nueva\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

Azerbaiy\u00e1n, dirigido por el presidente Ilham Aliyev, se enorgullece de ser uno de los aliados m\u00e1s cercanos de Israel en el mundo musulm\u00e1n. La capital azerbaiyana, Bak\u00fa, es una ciudad hermana de Houston, y Azerbaiy\u00e1n recientemente hizo una donaci\u00f3n financiera para ayudar a restaurar la Congregaci\u00f3n Beth Yeshurun, una sinagoga que sufri\u00f3 da\u00f1os severos cuando el hurac\u00e1n Harvey azot\u00f3 Texas el verano pasado.<\/span><\/p>\n
