Un funcionario de finanzas de Estados Unidos est\u00e1 instando al L\u00edbano a cortar los v\u00ednculos entre el grupo terrorista Hezbollah y el sistema financiero del pa\u00eds.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Al visitar el L\u00edbano esta semana, el subsecretario de prevenci\u00f3n del Financiamiento del Terrorismo del Departamento del Tesoro, Marshall Billingslea, \u00abinst\u00f3 al L\u00edbano a tomar todas las medidas posibles para garantizar que (Hezbollah) no sea parte del sector financiero\u00bb, seg\u00fan un comunicado de la embajada estadounidense en Beirut citado por Reuters.<\/p>\n

La visita se produjo en medio de un nuevo impulso de los EEUU para desbaratar las fuentes de ingresos de Hezbollah, incluidas sus actividades de lavado de dinero y tr\u00e1fico de drogas en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n

En sus conversaciones con funcionarios libaneses, Billingslea destac\u00f3 \u201cla importancia de contrarrestar la actividad maligna iran\u00ed en el L\u00edbano\u00bb, seg\u00fan la embajada.<\/p>\n

Ir\u00e1n es el patr\u00f3n pol\u00edtico de Hezbollah y la principal fuente de financiaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

El Congreso de los Estados Unidos aprob\u00f3 las Leyes de Prevenci\u00f3n de la Financiaci\u00f3n Internacional de Hezbollah en 2015 y 2017, ambas tratando de separar los bancos del L\u00edbano y otra infraestructura financiera del grupo terrorista.<\/p>\n

Billingslea se reuni\u00f3 con el presidente del L\u00edbano, Michel Aoun, el primer ministro Saad al-Hariri y las principales figuras pol\u00edticas y bancarias, asegurando a los funcionarios que los esfuerzos de Washington contra Hezbollah no afectaron su deseo de garantizar un \u00abfuerte, estable y pr\u00f3spero\u00bb L\u00edbano.<\/p>\n
