La econom\u00eda de Israel creci\u00f3 a una tasa preliminar anualizada del 4,1% en el tercer trimestre, inform\u00f3 la Oficina Central de Estad\u00edsticas, sorprendiendo a los pronosticadores al acelerarse repentinamente luego de una lenta primera mitad.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

El gasto del consumidor, que ha sido el motor de crecimiento por un tiempo, confundiendo las expectativas de los economistas, creci\u00f3 a una tasa anual de 7.8%, dijo la oficina. Eso marc\u00f3 su ganancia trimestral m\u00e1s fuerte desde el segundo trimestre del a\u00f1o pasado.<\/p>\n

En t\u00e9rminos per c\u00e1pita, el gasto de los consumidores aument\u00f3 a una tasa de 5.7% en el tercer trimestre, desde un acelerado 4.2% en el segundo trimestre y una disminuci\u00f3n de 1.5% en el primero. Despu\u00e9s de una oleada de compra de autom\u00f3viles hace un a\u00f1o, los israel\u00edes parec\u00edan haber pasado a otros tipos de bienes duraderos. El gasto en art\u00edculos como refrigeradores y otros electrodom\u00e9sticos aument\u00f3 a una tasa del 12.7% en los tres meses.<\/p>\n

La inversi\u00f3n, por su parte, aument\u00f3 a un ritmo del 8,1%, desaceler\u00e1ndose desde un aumento del 11,1% en el trimestre anterior. Los gastos de capital aumentaron la ganancia, saltando un 13.2% para su segunda ganancia trimestral de dos d\u00edgitos consecutivos, liderada por grandes aumentos en el gasto en equipos de maquinaria en f\u00e1bricas y en veh\u00edculos.<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, la inversi\u00f3n en construcci\u00f3n residencial disminuy\u00f3 a una tasa de 1.4%.<\/p>\n

Los economistas esperaban que la econom\u00eda mantuviera la misma tasa de crecimiento anual del 4% que tuvo en 2016. Pero en los primeros seis meses el PIB se expandi\u00f3 a una tasa an\u00f3mala del 2,2%, lo que provoc\u00f3 que los economistas revisaran su pron\u00f3stico m\u00e1s bajo para el a\u00f1o. El mes pasado, el Banco de Israel recort\u00f3 su estimaci\u00f3n de crecimiento econ\u00f3mico para 2017 a 3.1% de 3.4%.<\/p>\n

El crecimiento en el tercer trimestre fue m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que el pron\u00f3stico promedio de 2.5% en una encuesta de Reuters a economistas, pero las cifras de la Oficina de Estad\u00edsticas son preliminares y pueden ser revisadas abruptamente en informes posteriores.<\/p>\n

Si Israel puede sostener altas tasas de crecimiento econ\u00f3mico es central en el debate sobre cu\u00e1ndo el ministro de Finanzas, Moshe Kahlon, podr\u00e1 permitirse recortar impuestos. Muchos economistas sostienen que el alto crecimiento y el aumento en los ingresos tributarios que ha creado, lo permitir\u00e1. Sin embargo, muchos analistas est\u00e1n preocupados por la forma en que la econom\u00eda est\u00e1 creciendo. La disminuci\u00f3n de la inversi\u00f3n en vivienda significa malas noticias para el impulso de Kahlon para bajar los precios de la vivienda, lo que requiere el suministro de nuevas viviendas para mantener el ritmo de la demanda.<\/p>\n

El gasto del consumidor no puede continuar creciendo a un ritmo acelerado indefinidamente, siendo que las exportaciones, son el motor tradicional de crecimiento.<\/p>\n

De hecho, la oficina inform\u00f3 que las exportaciones de bienes y servicios, que representan casi un tercio de la econom\u00eda, aumentaron a una tasa anualizada de 18,5% luego de una disminuci\u00f3n en los tres meses anteriores.<\/p>\n
