Poco despu\u00e9s de que el Comit\u00e9 del Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO aprobara otra resoluci\u00f3n ignorando los lazos jud\u00edos y cristianos en el Monte del Templo en Jerusalem, Francisco declar\u00f3 p\u00fablicamente que Jerusalem es central para el juda\u00edsmo y prometido por Dios al pueblo jud\u00edo.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

En un discurso en el Vaticano el mi\u00e9rcoles, Francisco declar\u00f3 que Dios prometi\u00f3 la Tierra Santa para el pueblo de Israel.<\/p>\n

\u00abEl pueblo de Israel fueron de Egipto, donde fueron esclavizados, a trav\u00e9s del desierto durante 40 a\u00f1os hasta que llegaron a la tierra prometida por Dios\u00bb, dijo Francisco, de acuerdo con un informe del\u00a0Jerusalem Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Francisco hizo la declaraci\u00f3n poco antes de reunirse con el viceprimer ministro de Israel para la Cooperaci\u00f3n Regional Ayoub Kara, donde se le dio las gracias por su trabajo en favor de los cristianos en Israel.<\/p>\n

La declaraci\u00f3n del Papa se produjo horas despu\u00e9s de que el Comit\u00e9 del Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO aprobara otra resoluci\u00f3n ignorando los lazos jud\u00edos y cristianos en el Monte del Templo<\/a> en Jerusalem. La resoluci\u00f3n, que era similar a una resoluci\u00f3n anterior<\/a>\u00a0del pasado 13 de octubre por la Comisi\u00f3n Ejecutiva del organismo internacional, se refier\u00eda exclusivamente al Monte del Templo por sus nombres musulmanes.<\/p>\n

Mientras que el Vaticano todav\u00eda tiene que hacer una declaraci\u00f3n formal sobre las resoluciones de la UNESCO sobre Jerusalem, el portavoz de la Knesset Yuli Edelstein, escribi\u00f3 una carta al cardenal Pietro Parolin, secretario de Estado del Vaticano, diciendo que las resoluciones son \u00abun asalto a la historia y es profundamente ofensivo para el cristianismo y el juda\u00edsmo\u00bb, instando al Vaticano que \u00abhaga sus mejores oficios para evitar la repetici\u00f3n de acontecimientos de este tipo\u00bb.<\/p>\n
