El terremoto reciente en Italia ha causado la muerte de cientos de personas y seg\u00fan los expertos, Israel puede experimentar un terremoto similar. Seg\u00fan los datos de la Contralor\u00eda del Estado sobre la estructura de la fortificaci\u00f3n, Israel est\u00e1 muy mal preparado. Los edificios antiguos no fueron construidos teniendo en cuenta eventualidades s\u00edsmicas, y los nuevos edificios que s\u00ed cuentan con cierta preparaci\u00f3n tampoco cumplen los requisitos de prevenci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Tras once a\u00f1os de votada la ley Tama 38 destinada a fortificar los edificios m\u00e1s antiguos, s\u00f3lo el tres por ciento de las estructuras de viviendas p\u00fablicas construidas antes de 1980 lo han hecho.<\/p>\n

Incluso los edificios cuyas estructuras se han reforzado no est\u00e1n garantizados para resistir un terremoto, ya que algunas de las empresas que llevan a cabo las construcciones seg\u00fan los par\u00e1metros de Tama 38 no tienen experiencia en el proceso de fortificaci\u00f3n.
\nEl desglose de los datos implica que s\u00f3lo 5.000 apartamentos en 430 edificios han sido fortificados, fuera de los 810.000 apartamentos y 120.000 edificios que se encuentran en necesidad de dicho trabajo. Actualmente se est\u00e1n renovando 15.000 apartamentos de acuerdo a Tama 38, y m\u00e1s de 30.000 han presentado una solicitud para iniciar el proceso.<\/p>\n

Aproximadamente la mitad de todos los edificios antiguos en Israel son tres pisos de altura o m\u00e1s, y muchos de ellos se derrumbar\u00edan por completo en el caso de un terremoto, debido a la proximidad a la fractura geol\u00f3gica del Gran Valle del Rift que se extiende desde Siria a \u00c1frica. Tiber\u00edades, Safed, Kiriat Shmona, Beit Shean y Eilat est\u00e1n bastante cerca de este potencial punto focal del terremoto. Si ocurre un terremoto como el de Italia de 7,5 de la escala de Richter, se estima que podr\u00eda haber 10.000 edificios destruidos y 16.000 muertos, inform\u00f3 el Comit\u00e9 de Direcci\u00f3n del gobierno.<\/p>\n
