En las Olimp\u00edadas Paral\u00edmpicas participaron el equipo de goalball de mujeres, con su capitana Elham Mhamid quien asegura que trabaj\u00f3 muy duro para poder alcanzar este puesto.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mhamid, es nativa de Umm el Fahm, tiene 26 a\u00f1os de edad y es legalmente ciega, sufre de acromatopsia (tambi\u00e9n llamada monocromatismo) una enfermedad cong\u00e9nita y no progresiva que consiste en una anomal\u00eda de la visi\u00f3n que impide ver los colores y percibir \u00fanicamente los colores blanco, negro, gris y todas sus tonalidades, produciendo sensibilidad a la luz. La enfermedad reside en una alteraci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas fotorreceptoras de la retina, sensibles al color.<\/p>\n

Elham Mhmaid, se siente muy orgullosa de poder representar a Israel en las competencias internacionales, siendo que ninguna competencia deportiva es m\u00e1s importante que la de R\u00edo.<\/p>\n

El juego consiste en la participaci\u00f3n de dos equipos de tres jugadores, se basa principalmente en el sentido auditivo para detectar la trayectoria de la pelota, la cual lleva en su interior cascabeles que suenan con el movimiento del bal\u00f3n; por lo que este deporte requiere una gran capacidad de orientaci\u00f3n espacial, para poder interceptar el bal\u00f3n, situarse estrat\u00e9gicamente en el campo y realizar el lanzamiento. Un dato a destacar es que todos los jugadores llevan antifaces opacos para igualar la falta de visibilidad de los participantes. En algunas competiciones los jugadores adem\u00e1s del antifaz deber\u00e1n usar parches oclusivos.<\/p>\n
