Los rabinos del Talmud examinaron el tema de honrar a los padres en circunstancias especiales. Veremos hoy dos ejemplos.<\/p>\n

PADRES SENILES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Los rabinos presentaron\u00a0 el caso de Rab As\u00e9, que viv\u00eda con su madre mayor, y que ya estaba senil. Rab As\u00e9 cuidaba muy bien de ella y hac\u00eda lo que pod\u00eda para complacerla, honrarla y no contradecirla. El Talmud ilustra el comportamiento err\u00e1tico de la madre y la reacci\u00f3n de Rab As\u00e9: un d\u00eda ella le pidi\u00f3 que le comprara joyas, y \u00e9l le trajo algunas joyas. Otro d\u00eda ella le pidi\u00f3 que le buscara un marido para ella. Tratando de apaciguarla, \u00e9l le dijo que lo iba a hacer… Pero la situaci\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a un punto en que los pedidos de la anciana madre eran cada vez m\u00e1s exc\u00e9ntricos y su comportamiento se volvi\u00f3 cada vez m\u00e1s violento. Rab As\u00e9 decidi\u00f3 entonces dejarla. Los rabinos explicaron que Rab As\u00e9 no la dejo sola sino que contrat\u00f3 a una muy buena persona para que cuidara de su madre. Los Sabios dijeron que Rab As\u00e9 pens\u00f3 que de otro modo, en estas circunstancias, se ver\u00eda obligado a faltarle el respeto a su madre y tal vez tener que restringirla f\u00edsicamente, algo que no estaba dispuesto a hacer.\u00a0 Los Sabios tambi\u00e9n explicaron que, por alguna raz\u00f3n, en este caso, el comportamiento de la madre de Rab As\u00e9 era m\u00e1s agresivo en presencia de su hijo, pero con otras personas, la madre se comportaba con\u00a0 m\u00e1s tranquilidad. Sobre la base de este precedente los rabinos concluyeron que, en determinadas circunstancias, el hijo o la hija pueden dejar a sus padres mayores bajo el cuidado de otra persona. Obviamente, cada caso es completamente diferente del otro, y debe ser tratado espec\u00edficamente.\u00a0Yo recomendar\u00eda que, en ning\u00fan caso, los hijos tomen este tipo de decisiones basados simplemente en intuici\u00f3n. M\u00e1s bien, se deber\u00eda consultar con un trabajador social o un sic\u00f3logo y con un rabino para determinar qu\u00e9 es lo mejor que uno puede hacer por sus padres en este tipo de situaciones.<\/p>\n

DESOBEDECER A LOS PADRES POR SU PROPIO BENEFICIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Honrar a nuestros padres incluye obedecerlos y en lo posible complacer sus deseos. Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 hay que hacer si los padres piden a su hijo o hija algo que va a ser perjudicial para ellos? Por ejemplo: \u00bfQu\u00e9 debe hacer un hijo si su padre le pide que le traiga una bebida alcoh\u00f3lica y el hijo sabe que el padre terminar\u00e1 en estado de embriaguez? \u00bfEl hijo, tiene que obedecer a su padre y llevarle el licor, siguiendo ciegamente las \u00f3rdenes de su padre, o debe negarse a asistir a su padre en este caso?\u00a0 Los rabinos est\u00e1n de acuerdo en que en este caso el hijo debe negarse a comprar u obtener alcohol para su padre, pero debe hacerlo con el m\u00e1ximo respeto, tratando de disuadir a su padre con palabras dulces y l\u00f3gicas. Al hijo no se le permite gritarle a sus padres o faltarles el respeto, incluso cuando el hijo tiene raz\u00f3n. Los rabinos contempor\u00e1neos traen algunos otros ejemplos comunes. Si el padre es diab\u00e9tico y le pide a su hijo que le lleve un alimento dulce, o cuando un padre le pide a su hijo o hija que le traiga cigarrillos o cualquier cosa que pudiera causar un da\u00f1o \u00absignificativo\u00bb para la salud de la madre del padre, es decir, cualquier cosa que un m\u00e9dico le impedir\u00eda hacer, tomar o comer. Una vez m\u00e1s, a\u00fan en estos casos donde los hijos desobedecen a los padres, es fundamental que los hijos mantengan una actitud respetuosa y eviten ofender o humillar a sus padres , a\u00fan cuando est\u00e1n tratando de protegerlos de algo perjudicial.
