Para m\u00ed, el jud\u00edo que soy, Jerusalem est\u00e1 m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la pol\u00edtica. Est\u00e1 mencionada m\u00e1s de seiscientas veces en las Escrituras Sagradas, y ni una vez en el Cor\u00e1n. Su presencia en la historia jud\u00eda es abrumadora. No hay una plegaria m\u00e1s conmovedora en la historia jud\u00eda que la que expresa nuestro anhelo por retornar a Jerusalem. Para muchos te\u00f3logos, es historia jud\u00eda, para muchos poetas, una fuente de inspiraci\u00f3n. Le pertenece al pueblo jud\u00edo y es mucho m\u00e1s que una ciudad, es lo que une a un jud\u00edo con otro de una manera que a\u00fan es dif\u00edcil de explicar. Cuando un jud\u00edo visita Jerusalem por primera vez, no siente que es la primera vez; es un regreso a casa. La primera canci\u00f3n que escuch\u00e9 fue el arrullo de mi mam\u00e1 sobre, y por, Jerusalem. Su tristeza y su alegr\u00eda son parte de nuestra memoria colectiva.<\/p>\n

Cuando un jud\u00edo visita Jerusalem por primera vez, es un regreso a casa.
\nDesde que el Rey David tom\u00f3 Jerusalem como su capital, los jud\u00edos han vivido dentro de sus murallas con solamente dos interrupciones: cuando los invasores romanos les prohibieron el acceso a la ciudad, y luego, bajo la ocupaci\u00f3n jordana. A los jud\u00edos, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su nacionalidad, se les neg\u00f3 la entrada al cuarto jud\u00edo para meditar y rezar en el Muro, el \u00faltimo vestigio del Templo de Salom\u00f3n. Es importante recordar: si Jordania no se hubiera unido a Egipto y Siria en la guerra de 1967 en contra de Israel, la ciudad vieja todav\u00eda ser\u00eda \u00e1rabe. Claramente, mientras que los jud\u00edos estaban dispuestos a morir por Jerusalem, no estaban dispuestos a matar por Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

Hoy, por primera vez en la historia, los jud\u00edos, cristianos y musulmanes pueden adorar libremente es sus lugares sagrados. Y, al contrario de algunos reportes de la prensa, los jud\u00edos, cristianos y musulmanes TIENEN permitido construir sus hogares en cualquier lugar de la ciudad. La angustia por Jerusalem no es sobre bienes ra\u00edces sino sobre memoria.<\/p>\n

\u00bfCu\u00e1l es la soluci\u00f3n? Ciertamente la presi\u00f3n no producir\u00e1 una soluci\u00f3n. \u00bfHay una soluci\u00f3n? Debe haber, habr\u00e1. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 abordar el problema m\u00e1s complejo y sensible prematuramente? \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 no primeramente tomar pasos que permitan que la comunidad israel\u00ed y palestina puedan convivir en una atm\u00f3sfera de seguridad? \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 no dejar de lado el asunto m\u00e1s complejo, m\u00e1s sensible, durante ese tiempo?<\/p>\n

Jerusalem debe continuar siendo la capital espiritual jud\u00eda del mundo, no un s\u00edmbolo de angustia y amargura, sino un s\u00edmbolo de confianza y esperanza. Como dijo el maestro jas\u00eddico Rebe Najman de Breslov: \u201cTodo en este mundo tiene un coraz\u00f3n; incluso el coraz\u00f3n mismo tiene su propio coraz\u00f3n\u201d.
\nJerusalem es el coraz\u00f3n de nuestro coraz\u00f3n, es el alma de nuestra alma.<\/p>\n
