A los 91 a\u00f1os de edad, un sobreviviente del Holocausto de Israel gan\u00f3 el campeonato del mundo para los corredores de alto nivel en Lyon, Francia, corriendo 10 kil\u00f3metros en una hora y 20 minutos.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

La haza\u00f1a de Semion Simkin se hizo a\u00fan m\u00e1s impresionante, teniendo en cuenta que \u00e9l es ciego, y s\u00f3lo puede ver a tres metros delante de \u00e9l.<\/p>\n

S\u00f3lo dos corredores compitieron en la carrera de los hombres entre las edades de 90 y 95. Simkin derrot\u00f3 a su \u00fanico competidor, Lorenzo Juvenal P\u00e9rez, un argentino de 93-a\u00f1os de edad, por 21 minutos y 26 segundos.<\/p>\n

\u00abEste es un escenario con el que ni siquiera so\u00f1aba. Espero que en el futuro voy a tener todav\u00eda tiene la fuerza para continuar corriendo y honrando a Israel\u00bb, declar\u00f3 Simkin al peri\u00f3dico Israel Hayom.<\/p>\n

Originario de Bielorrusia, Simkin sobrevivi\u00f3 al Holocausto. \u00c9l tiene dos hijos, cuatro nietos y seis bisnietos, y vive en el asentamiento de Maal\u00e9 Adumim, cerca de Jerusal\u00e9n.<\/p>\n

El d\u00eda antes de la carrera de 10 kil\u00f3metros, Simkin gan\u00f3 la medalla de plata en la carrera de 5 kil\u00f3metros, con un tiempo de 39 minutos y 47 segundos, simplemente cinco segundos por detr\u00e1s del ganador, el portugu\u00e9s Jos\u00e9 Canelo, de 90 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n
