Lou Lenart, un piloto de Infanter\u00eda de Marina durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial que m\u00e1s tarde ayud\u00f3 a frustrar el\u00a0avance egipcio hacia Tel Aviv en 1948, durante la Guerra de Independencia de Israel, falleci\u00f3 el lunes a los 94 a\u00f1os.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lenart naci\u00f3 en una familia de\u00a0agricultores jud\u00edos en Hungr\u00eda. Su familia se mud\u00f3 a Estados Unidos cuando ten\u00eda 10 a\u00f1os y se establecieron en Pennsylvania. M\u00e1s tarde se alist\u00f3 en la Infanter\u00eda de Marina a los 17 a\u00f1os y se convirti\u00f3 en piloto, combatiendo\u00a0durante la Batalla de Okinawa y en otros lugares en el Pac\u00edfico.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se uni\u00f3 a la Fuerza A\u00e9rea naciente de Israel, que consist\u00eda en s\u00f3lo cuatro aviones de combate alemanes Messerschmitt. Durante la guerra de 1948, cuando las fuerzas egipcias estaban acerc\u00e1ndose a Tel Aviv, los comandantes israel\u00edes decidieron arriesgar toda su flota de aviones y atacar el avance egipcio.
