This incident is yet another troubling example of how antisemitic ideas—both subtle and overt—are being introduced into the mainstream consciousness of millions of Americans through popular podcasts and social media platforms.

Last week, an American comedian sparked controversy on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, which boasts roughly 14.5 million followers, by implying that Israel was responsible for the assassination of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

Theo Von, a Louisiana-born comedian known for his storytelling and observational humor, made the remark during the conversation. He said, “It was before Israel killed him.” Rogan immediately responded, “You think so?” and Von replied, “I didn’t say anything.”

This incident is yet another troubling example of how antisemitic ideas—both subtle and overt—are being introduced into the mainstream consciousness of millions of Americans through popular podcasts and social media platforms. It highlights the growing risk of misinformation and conspiratorial rhetoric spreading unchecked to vast audiences, normalizing harmful tropes about Jewish people.
