O Diretor-geral da Ag\u00eancia Central de Intelig\u00eancia dos Estados Unidos, William Burns, chegou ontem a Israel para a sua primeira visita ao pa\u00eds. Indicado por Joe Biden para comandar o servi\u00e7o de intelig\u00eancia norte-americano, Burns, um diplomata aposentado, assumiu o cargo de Diretor da CIA em mar\u00e7o deste ano.<\/p>\n

A visita de Burns a Israel acontece em um momento de extrema tens\u00e3o entre Washington, Jerusal\u00e9m e Londres de um lado, e de outro o Ir\u00e3. H\u00e1 alguns dias, ap\u00f3s o ataque ao navio cargueiro Mercer Street,<\/a> o Secret\u00e1rio de Estado dos Estados Unidos, Antony Blinken, e o Ministro das Rela\u00e7\u00f5es Exteriores do Reino Unidos, Dominic Raab, prometeram trabalhar junto a Israel em uma \u201cresposta conjunta<\/a>\u201d as a\u00e7\u00f5es do regime iraniano.<\/p>\n

No ataque da Guarda da Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o Isl\u00e2mica iraniana ao petroleiro Mercer Street, dois civis foram assassinados, um brit\u00e2nico e um romeno.<\/p>\n

Na manh\u00e3 desta quarta-feira (11), William Burns reuniu-se com o Diretor-geral do Mossad, Amit Barnea,<\/a> e com o Primeiro-ministro de Israel, Naftali Bennett. \u00a0O encontro entre os tr\u00eas aconteceu em Tel Aviv, na sede do Minist\u00e9rio da Defesa e Quartel-general das For\u00e7as de Defesa de Israel, IDF na sigla em ingl\u00eas.<\/p>\n

Em nota o gabinete do premier israelense informou que Bennett e os diretores do Mossad e da CIA discutiram formas de \u201cestreitar as rela\u00e7\u00f5es de coopera\u00e7\u00e3o nas \u00e1reas da intelig\u00eancia e seguran\u00e7a entre Israel e os Estados Unidos\u201d.<\/p>\n

Tamb\u00e9m estiveram em pauta a atual situa\u00e7\u00e3o geopol\u00edtica do Oriente M\u00e9dio e \u201cprincipalmente o Ir\u00e3\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ainda de acordo com a nota divulgada por Jerusal\u00e9m, os diretores do Mossad e da CIA j\u00e1 haviam se reunido na noite desta ter\u00e7a-feira para tratar de quest\u00f5es ligadas ao programa nuclear iraniano e sua amea\u00e7a a estabilidade do Oriente M\u00e9dio.<\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m destas reuni\u00f5es, William Burns encontrou-se tamb\u00e9m com o Ministro da Defesa de Israel, Benny Gantz, e com o Chefe do Estado-maior do IDF, General Aviv Kochavi.<\/p>\n

O Diretor da CIA tamb\u00e9m deve ir a Ramallah, onde se re\u00fane com o Mahmoud Abbas.<\/p>\n
