Morreu neste domingo o ex-Diretor da Ag\u00eancia Espacial de Israel, Avi Har-Even. Aos 84 anos de idade, ele estava internado h\u00e1 quase um m\u00eas, ap\u00f3s ficar gravemente ferido em um ataque de terroristas isl\u00e2micos ao hotel Efendi.<\/p>\n

Localizado na cidade antiga de Akko, ou Acre em portugu\u00eas, o hotel Efendi foi atacado, incendiado e destru\u00eddo por terroristas \u00e1rabes-israelenses e palestinos no \u00faltimo dia 12 de maio. Isto, como parte dos ataques contra judeus durante o recente conflito entre Israel, o Hamas e a Jihad Isl\u00e2mica Palestina.<\/p>\n

No ataque ficaram feridos tamb\u00e9m um adolescente de 17 anos e uma mulher de 76.<\/p>\n

Ap\u00f3s ter grande parte de seu corpo queimado, al\u00e9m de problemas relacionados a inala\u00e7\u00e3o de fuma\u00e7a, Har-Even foi encaminhado em estado grave para o hospital Rambam na cidade de Haifa. Ele estava internado desde ent\u00e3o, inconsciente e ligado a aparelhos, mas n\u00e3o resistiu e sucumbiu aos ferimentos.<\/p>\n

Avi Har-Even era um engenheiro el\u00e9trico e famoso cientista que trabalhou no desenvolvimento do sistema \u201cSharvit Haksamin\u201d (varinha m\u00e1gica), um programa de m\u00edsseis capazes de interceptar m\u00edsseis bal\u00edsticos, aeronaves e drones. Os m\u00edsseis \u201cSharvit\u201d comp\u00f5e o arsenal de defesa antia\u00e9reo de Israel.<\/p>\n

Em 1977 Har-Even foi condecorado com pelo Minist\u00e9rio da Defesa com um pr\u00eamio pelo seu papel na seguran\u00e7a de Israel. Entre 1995 e 2000, ele chefiou a Ag\u00eancia Espacial israelense e comandou o a cria\u00e7\u00e3o do projeto que transformou Ilan Ramon no primeiro astronauta israelense.<\/p>\n
