ACT NOW: Tell University of California Leaders to Stop Antisemitic Faculty Boycotts

The University of California (UC) system, long a beacon of academic excellence and inclusivity, now faces a grave challenge.

At UCLA, faculty members affiliated with Faculty for Justice in Palestine (FJP) are actively promoting academic boycotts against Israeli institutions, directly contravening UC Regents Policy 2301, which prohibits the misuse of classrooms for political indoctrination.

These actions not only violate university policy but also foster an environment of exclusion and intimidation for Jewish and Israeli students.

The Anti-Defamation League reports an 84% increase in antisemitic incidents on college campuses in 2024, with a significant portion occurring at institutions where FJP is active.

Moreover, FJP’s advocacy extends beyond academic boycotts. They have called for the boycott of UCLA’s Nazarian Center for Israel Studies and even UCLA Hillel, a non-partisan organization supporting Jewish life on campus.

Such actions not only undermine academic freedom but also marginalize Jewish students and faculty.

The UC administration must act decisively. It is imperative to enforce existing policies, prohibit academic boycotts, and hold accountable those faculty members who misuse their positions to promote divisive and discriminatory agendas.
